(TCTSY)

Complex trauma leaves a physical imprint so that the person has a disrupted sense of safety, not only in the world, but also in their body. So, it’s not surprising that those struggling with the long-term effects of repeated and prolonged trauma may feel alienated from their body and require assistance to address what’s happening consciously or unconsciously, in their body. TCTSY (Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga) is one of the practices you might be interested in adding to your healing resources.

This evidence-based practice was developed by pioneers in the field of trauma, Dr Bessel van der Kolk and David Emerson at the Boston Trauma Centre, Massachusetts USA.

In an environment of safety and with an emphasis on choice, present moment experience and self-agency TCTSY aims to assist you to move away from self-judgement and toward an attitude of curiosity and interest which support connection or reconnection with your body.

I am an accredited TCTSY Facilitator and offer private sessions, in addition to small group classes in the format of an 8-week course. No prior experience with yoga is required. If you would like more information on TCTSY please visit www.canberra-trauma-yoga.com.
